I don’t think there was one particular time when I stumbled upon great food and decided ‘OK I am going to now start eating amazing food’. Eating amazing food is something we all love doing and unfortunately these days there is so much crap easily available that we tend to compromise on quality.
This is not true in all cases. I know some of my mates who will, after a boozy night, head to an establishment on dominion road called ‘Spicy House’, even if it is out of the way, for some unhealthy, but undeniably THE best drunk eating in town. I myself am the same. I would much rather wait for an hour to get my hands on some Mexico fried chicken than head over to a KFC for a cheaper and quicker option.
There are many people I know that would go the extra mile for great food and that is why I have started this Tambura blog. I want to eat and share my experiences of great food available in Auckland.
Food Truck Garage
You all probably know this one. I have been to this place a couple of times for lunch and I have not been let down.
Seating: open layout and is pretty full on the weekends.
Wait time: 10 -20 mins. Could be longer depending on the number of people.
Cost: On average I spent about $25 per person.
What I Have had
These are awesome!! This is on the starters list. Squeeze some lemon over these, dip in the sauce provided and enjoy!
Chickette (chicken burger)
The burger was decent. Nothing amazing but tastes good and is very fresh. Just quietly, I have had a lot better.
Papple Dog – with Ginger fizzy drink and Lemon fizzy drink
The hot dogs are definitely the stars of the show. Great ingredients and a good sized portion. All three hot dogs are tasty but I like this one the best.
Also I prefer the Ginger drink over the Lemon drink which has an odd after taste.
Don’t bother with this one. Nothing special really. Have another bowl of the prawn tacos
All in all the food was nice, the atmosphere was awesome and the staff works quickly. You will be in and out in no time, with a full stomach.
You can find their menu and more info on their website: http://www.foodtruckgarage.co.nz/
If any of you have been to Food Truck Garage and have tried something on the menu that I haven’t included above please let me know.
